Data We Collect

Data stored on your device (local only)

RecipeDrop stores the following data locally on your device. This data never leaves your phone:

This data is stored in your device's app storage. It is not uploaded to any server, cloud service, or third party.

Data sent to our servers

When you import a recipe by pasting a URL, RecipeDrop sends only the URL to our recipe extraction service (hosted on Google Cloud Run in the EU, region europe-west1). The service fetches the recipe content from the URL, extracts the structured recipe data, and returns it to your device.

We do not:

Data we do NOT collect

AI Fallback Processing

For recipe URLs that cannot be parsed by our standard extraction engine, RecipeDrop may use an AI service (OpenAI) to extract recipe content from the page. In this case:

OpenAI's data processing is governed by their Privacy Policy. We use the API configuration that does not retain submitted data for training.

No Account Required

RecipeDrop does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal details. The app works entirely without authentication or identity.

No In-App Analytics

RecipeDrop does not use analytics frameworks, crash reporting tools, or performance monitoring within the app itself. We do not track your usage, screen views, or interactions within the app.

Our website (recipedrop.overpass.co.uk) may use Google Analytics to understand website traffic. This is separate from the app and does not affect app users.

Third-Party Services

RecipeDrop uses the following third-party services:

Children's Privacy

RecipeDrop does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the UK/EEA). Since we do not collect any personal data at all, this is inherently addressed.

Data Security

Your recipe data is stored locally on your device using standard app storage mechanisms provided by iOS and Android. We recommend enabling device backup (iCloud or Google) to protect your data against device loss.

Communication between the app and our recipe extraction service uses HTTPS encryption.

Your Rights (GDPR / UK DPA 2018)

Under the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:

Since RecipeDrop does not collect or store personal data on our servers, most data subject requests are handled automatically by the app's local storage design.

Data Retention

Your data remains on your device for as long as the app is installed. We do not retain any data on our servers. When you delete the app, all locally stored data is removed.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
